The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) in collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan (USask) is going to host a ‘Winter Institute in Digital Humanities’ (WIDH) from December 8 to 22 at the IITGN campus. This international workshop is designed and offered collaboratively by both academic institutions with an aim to initiate an interdisciplinary dialogue on digital studies.
The workshop, which is supported by the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, will provide an introductory approach to digital humanities through lectures on theoretical developments in the field and hands-on engagement with key digital tools and methods.
About 26 speakers from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including four keynote speakers- P Sainath, Former Rural Editor of the Hindu, Magsaysay Award Recipient and Founder of People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI); Prof Anil Gupta, Visiting Faculty, IIM Ahmedabad; Jatindra K Nayak, Former Professor, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and Literary Critic; K P Jayasankar, Professor and Dean, Centre for Critical Media Praxis, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai; will share their perspectives and expertise through various talks on different aspects of digital studies.
