The Minister of State (IC) for Labour and Employment, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya has said that administration of ITIs are under the control of State Governments/Union Territory Administrations and therefore, data on employment and unemployment is not maintained centrally. However, according to performance evaluation of ITIs conducted by Quality Council of India in January 2011, about 60% of graduates from Government ITIs get employment.
The Ministry of Labour & Employment has also conducted study for evaluation of its two Schemes. As per result of Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP) mid-terms tracer study conducted in May, 2012, 60% of ITI pass out find employment with in one year of finishing of their training.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya said that as per study conducted to ascertain the impact of the Scheme for Upgradation of 1396 Government ITIs through PPP, average percentages of placement of trainees to total pass out are as under:
The Minister said that the skill development schemes of MoL&E are adequately linked with placement of its trainees as per details given below:
He said that Craftsmen Training Scheme – “Placement Cell” in every Government and Private ITIs is required to be set up to facilitate the passed out trainees in getting placement in different industries.
The Minister said that Skill Development Initiative Scheme – Vocational Training Providers have to ensure wage employment to at least 50% passed trainees of a batch for semi-skilled worker for that state within 3 months of end of training for at least six months.
