The women of Allahabad University will get a universal common hall which was long overdue. The hall will have three pink toilets attached to it for all the female staff and students. The hall is strategically built near the arts department as it has a larger number of students and most of them are female.
The idea for a common hall and pink toilets came from the university’s students itself. The plan was set in motion when a delegation of 15 women students from different departments had met the Vice Chancellor Professor RL Hangloo earlier this year demanding the facility.
The women also raised the issue of long gaps between two lectures where there is no comfortable place to sit in between. The pink hall is set to become functional from January 2020 and the pink toilets will be functional soon after.
